A summary of this record. The full detail is below, and the official posting governs.

Waterloo Fire Rescue sets one of the most complete pre-certification bars in the region: probationary firefighter applicants must be 18 or older, legally entitled to work in Canada, hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, NFPA 1001 Level 1 and 2 and NFPA 1072 or 472 Operations certification with IFSAC or Pro Board seals, valid CPR-BLS, EMR certification or equivalent, and all three OFAI Candidate Testing stages with valid CTS certificates. The DZ licence standard is strict: a maximum of three demerit points, no more than two convictions in the previous 36 months, no driving-related Criminal Code convictions in that period, and no ignition interlock restrictions. Requirements must be met and maintained from the application deadline through the process, with proof attached to the application; candidates later complete psychological resiliency testing, a pre-employment medical, and a police vulnerable sector check.

NFPA 1001 Firefighter I and II plus HazMat Operations are required before applying. Budget for fire school before you can compete.
