FACT questions, answered
What is the OFAI FACT test?
The Firefighter Aptitude and Character Test is Stage One of the Ontario Fire Administration Inc. candidate testing process, the shared testing pathway for participating Ontario departments, including Toronto. It covers reading ability, mathematical reasoning, map reading, and writing ability, plus a 60-item personal characteristics section.
How important is the character inventory on the FACT?
Very: the character inventory carries roughly half the weight of the overall FACT result. It measures constructs like integrity, rule orientation, and work attitudes through self-report items.
Can you practice for the character inventory?
Not honestly, and be wary of anyone selling coached answers: these instruments are designed to detect impression management, and coached answering works against you. Semparo's character bank runs in education mode instead. It teaches what the items measure and why accurate self-report is the only approach that works.
How does Semparo's FACT practice test work?
Timed reading, math, and map reading sections at the FACT's own item counts, followed by a character inventory walkthrough in education mode. The real FACT also has a 10-item Writing Ability section, which the mock does not include. The aptitude sections are scored and banded; the walkthrough is deliberately unscored. Every question is our original work, with unlimited retakes on Semparo Pro.
Is Semparo affiliated with OFAI?
No. Semparo is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ontario Fire Administration Inc. or any fire department. Every question is original, and OFAI's official process information always governs.
