How to become a firefighter in Brampton
The requirements below were researched against the official sources linked at the bottom of this page and are pending final verification. Always confirm against the current official posting.
Brampton hires pre-certified firefighters through the OFAI Candidate Testing Services stream: at the time of application you need NFPA 1001 Firefighter I and II (or a grandfathering equivalent), OFAI Candidate Testing Program Stage Two completed and Stage Three (expired certificates acceptable), a Grade 12 OSSD or Ontario approved equivalent, and valid First Aid with CPR Level C. An Ontario DZ licence is required, or must be obtained no later than six months from the date of hire, with a clean driver's abstract valid within three months of hire. The seven-step process runs from online application through structured behavioural interviews and pre-employment checks to an offer, including an 18-month conditional offer path for candidates still completing technical certifications.
NFPA 1001 Firefighter I and II plus HazMat Operations are required before applying. Budget for fire school before you can compete.
