The hiring process

Barrie's 2026 recruitment, posting PB-26-02 for Firefighter 5th Class, takes applications until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, through the City of Barrie's online application system only. Hard copies and applications received after the deadline are not considered, so submit well before the cut-off.
At application you need NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I and II and NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials Awareness (or equivalent) from IFSAC or Pro Board accredited programs, completion of an Emergency Medical Responder course, an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, legal entitlement to work in Canada, and to be 18 or older.
