Pattern-mapped
Model B: Come pre-certified

The requirements below were researched against the official sources linked at the bottom of this page and are pending final verification. Always confirm against the current official posting.

The Whitehorse Fire Department is a composite service with a career complement of 16 firefighters plus platoon chiefs, captains, dispatchers, and casual firefighters, backed up by volunteers on all responses. It covers structural and wildland fire suppression, technical rescue including ice, rope, confined space, elevator, and machinery entanglement, and dangerous goods support operations. Career vacancies are filled from within first: the city states that preference goes to current volunteer members certified NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level II with IFSAC or ProBoard seals, with external hiring only occasional. Candidates send a resume and certificates to the Chief Training Officer, and applications are kept on file until recruitment opens.

NFPA 1001 Firefighter I and II plus HazMat Operations are required before applying. Budget for fire school before you can compete.
