A summary of this record. The full detail is below, and the official posting governs.

Truro Fire Service publishes its volunteer firefighter qualifications on the town website. Candidates need to be 19 years of age, hold a valid driver's licence (minimum Class 5), provide a clean criminal record check and a driver's abstract demonstrating a safe driving record, hold Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status, be able to communicate in English, and have normal vision and hearing while being physically and medically fit. No experience is necessary: all training is provided once an application is accepted. Volunteers should expect an average of 15 to 20 hours of training, emergency responses, and meetings per month, and applications start with a conversation with the Fire Chief.

Entry-level hiring with no fire certifications required. The department trains recruits in-house. Medical certifications and driver licensing are the differentiators.
