How to become a firefighter in Moose Jaw

Moose Jaw hires pre-certified firefighters through periodic expressions of interest: applicants must have completed grade 12 or GED equivalency, be a graduate of a training institution accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress, hold NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I and II, and be registered at minimum as an EMR with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics. A valid Saskatchewan Class 3A licence is required or must be obtainable, with a current driver's abstract, and applicants must be able to pass a medical examination and have no criminal record. Applications include a resume and fire college transcript, candidates travel to Moose Jaw for pre-employment testing, and successful candidates are placed on an eligibility list.
NFPA 1001 Firefighter I and II plus HazMat Operations are required before applying. Budget for fire school before you can compete.
